Commenting on the draft of the Ministry of Public Security on the Law amending and supplementing a number of articles of the Law on entry, exit, transit and residence of foreigners in Vietnam (referred to as the Immigration Law), the Association Tourism Advisory Board (TAB) said it basically agreed with the policies in the proposed law. If the proposal is approved, travelers who come to the country for Vietnam golf tours will get free entry visa.
Specifically, TAB experts support the amendment of electronic visas (evisa) for citizens of all countries and territories, increasing the duration from no more than 30 days to no more than 3 months, valid once or many times.
Regarding unilateral visa exemption policy, TAB proposes a period of 5 years for citizens of countries exempted under this form and consider extending at least 6 months in advance.
The Tourism Advisory Council also agreed to increase the time limit for granting temporary residence certificates at international border gates for people entering unilaterally visa-free from 15 to 45 days and valid for many times.
In particular, TAB proposes to consider and supplement the regulation of unilateral visa exemption for 30 days, based on the proposal of the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism, for visitors to participate in some special types of tourism such as Vietnam golf tours, traveling to Vietnam by private planes… or special events such as attending sports tournaments, forums, national tourism fairs.
In addition, the current trend is that more and more solo travelers are traveling, so requiring tourists to have an application for approval of personnel to apply for a visa at international border gates creates additional visa services, causing inconvenience. inconvenience to guests, not in line with international common practices.
Therefore, TAB recommends to consider issuing a visa at the border gate with a temporary stay of 30 days and valid for one time, on the basis of on-site personnel review for both solo travelers and accompanying guests.
Another new point mentioned by TAB experts is the addition of a visa for foreign individuals who buy residential real estate in Vietnam, valid for 5 years, lasting for a period of 5 years. extended the visa period for high-tech workers working long-term in the tourism industry from no more than 2 years to 3 years, adding a new type of visa for foreigners working remotely in Vietnam with a duration of 2 years.
To eliminate the form of disguised visa services to gain illicit profits, TAB proposes to allow the immigration management agency to cancel the status of inviting or guaranteeing foreigners, and cancel electronic accounts if the agency or organization visa service agencies without clearly informing international tourists and charging higher service fees than prescribed.
Although Vietnam was the first country in Asia to open up to tourism, the recovery rate was much slower than that of its competitors in the region, while the competitors have achieved a higher level of recovery than 2019.
In 2022, our country will only receive 3.7 million visitors, the goal is to welcome 8 million this year. Therefore, the amendment of the visa policy towards an open direction will contribute to bringing Vietnam to the top of the list of favorite destinations for international tourists to choose.
