According to the expected plan of the People’s Committee of Kien Giang province, this locality will open to welcome international visitors in Phu Quoc City from November 20. Implementation time is 6 months. In the first time, Phu Quoc will organize one to three charter flights per day, from which to evaluate and learn from the operation, pick-up and service procedures.
It is expected that on November 20, Kien Giang Provincial People’s Committee will open the door to welcome international visitors to Phu Quoc City. Next, from December 20, implementation will be implemented in two phases. Phase 1 (from December 20 to March 20, 2022) pilot welcomes 3,000-5,000 passengers/month, through charter flights, and deploys to serve guests within a limited range and locations.
Phase 2 (from March 20, 2022, to June 20, 2022) after evaluating the results of phase 1 pilot implementation, if the requirements are met, it will expand the expected scale to welcome from 5,000 – 10,000 guests/ month. International tourists come from countries and territories with high safety in terms of Covid-19 disease prevention and control in some areas such as Europe, the Middle East, the United States, South Korea, and India. According to the leaders of Kien Giang Province and Phu Quoc Island, all plans to welcome guests are ready, but the current challenge is the source of vaccines for all Phu Quoc people. Mr. Huynh Quang Hung – Chairman of Phu Quoc City People’s Committee said that up to now, Phu Quoc Island has prepared to ensure medical conditions, security, and order, welcome guests to implement the best plan to welcome international tourists.
Currently, there are 17 accommodation establishments (including eight 5-star hotels and resorts), 5 travel companies, and 7 entertainment businesses in Phu Quoc registered to participate in the program. Through reviewing and assessing the capacity of businesses, only two large corporations, Vingroup and Sungroup, have more than 10,000 rooms with 5-star standards.
According to Mr. Hung, there are many amusement parks in Phu Quoc city that meet the requirements when welcoming international tourists. However, the most difficult thing right now is the issue of a Covid-19 vaccine. The head of Phu Quoc Island said that the city plans to vaccinate 116,000 people on September 24 to ensure community immunity. But so far, the distributed vaccine has not arrived in Phu Quoc.
When opening to welcome guests, the People’s Committee of Kien Giang province is considering and proposing to support periodic testing costs and entry and exit costs. At the meeting, Mr. Huynh Quang Hung suggested that the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism consider during the implementation process, if domestic tourists meet the same requirements as international tourists, they should let Phu Quoc welcome them. domestic passenger.
In addition to creating favorable conditions for entry and exit, Kien Giang will consider proposing support policies such as periodic testing costs and entry and exit costs. Phu Quoc Island has many amusement parks, especially a system of modern 5-star hotels and restaurants, ready to serve international and domestic tourists.
